Our client, one of the top banks in the US, is looking for a Sr. Mortgage Credit Underwriter with a working knowledge of Non Agency, RSU, Jumbo and familiar with the California market.
The Sr. Mortgage Credit Underwriter is a developing professional role which integrates in-depth specialty knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices. Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information. Moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities. Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of their team and other closely related teams.
Role and Responsibilities
Review and analyze mortgage loan applications, credit reports, appraisals, income, and asset documentation according to agency and non-agency guidelines and mortgage regulations.
Effectively communicate and explain credit decisions to loan officers and processors.
Excellent communication skills required to partner with sales on high profile clients.
Strong sense of urgency and ability to determine priorities to assist sales and processing partners with excellent client experience.
Perform timely reviews of conditions submitted as well as loan resubmissions.
Maintain high standard of credit quality as defined by Credit Policy and Credit Risk, to ensure salability and meet investor and portfolio requirements.
Maintain production standards as defined by business.
Provide a remarkable customer service experience to both internal staff and external customers.
Excellent communication, analytical, decision-making, and computer skills required.
Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
Qualifications
A minimum of 8-10 years of experience underwriting agency, non-agency, Mortgage Insurance loans and appraisals.
Experience and knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, and Private Mortgage insurance property and credit underwriting guidelines.
Strong understanding of complicated transactions and tax return analysis multiple businesses and property transactions, RSU income, asset based cash flow etc.
Experience effectively and independently making credit decisions and providing underwriting support to other business functions.
Knowledge and experience reviewing mortgage applications according to the US mortgage regulations
